Huililco — Lanín Viewpoint — Laguna Blanca

09 · Full day · 6h approx. · 19+ km

The Huililco valley and its ancient coihue trees give way to an araucaria forest, climbing the slopes of Volcán Quinquilil ("Devil's Fang") to a magnificent view of Volcán Lanín, the roof of the Araucanía.

This adventure starts with the impressive Huililco valley as the main stage, with a vehicle approach from Pucón to the trailhead (about 1.5 hours). We'll ride through an old-growth coihue valley, which gives way to a beautiful araucaria forest, and as we gain elevation, we start entering a more Andean valley along the slopes of Volcán Quinquilil, better known as the Devil's Fang. Here we climb through the scenic valley, rewarded with a magnificent view of the great Volcán Lanín (3,747 m), the roof of the Araucanía. From this point we begin an enjoyable descent that circles Laguna Blanca and continues down through the wonderful Huililco valley (about 6 hours). Medium-high difficulty.
